The Different Effects of Different layers in PCB (Part 2)

1. Solder Mask Layer

 

The solder mask layer is used to prevent the circuits on the PCB from oxidation and corrosion. Typically made from green or other colored solder mask ink, it is applied to the surface of the PCB through a printing process. The function of the solder mask layer is to protect the circuits, enhancing the reliability and lifespan of the PCB.

 

2. Silk Screen Layer

 

The silk screen layer is used to identify electronic components and circuits on the PCB. Typically made from white or other colored silk screen ink, it is applied to the surface of the PCB through a printing process. The function of the silk screen layer is to facilitate the installation and maintenance of electronic components, improving the readability and operability of the PCB.

 

3. Other Layers

 

In addition to the aforementioned layers, a PCB may also include other layers, such as:

 

1. Mechanical Layer: Used to indicate the size and shape of the PCB, facilitating the manufacturing and installation of the PCB.

 

2. Keep-Out Layer: Used to prohibit routing on the PCB to prevent short circuits and interference.

 

3. Multi-layer: Used to increase the number of layers in the PCB, enhancing the integration and performance of the PCB.
